Technology for Student Success: The rapid growth of technology and the explosion of available information has made it necessary for college students to develop new and more complex learning skills. Based on current research, entering students are not better prepared for college than previous generations and with respect to skills such as reading and writing are slightly less prepared than their predecessors. This workshop will provide faculty with much needed knowledge about various learning technologies that promote student success. Some of the tools to be explored are Read&Write text-to-speech software and Sonocent Audio Notetaker. Participants will explore the various features available for supporting reading, writing, exam preparation, and note taking. 1. Participants will be able to describe the abilities of text-to-speech applications 2. Participants will be able to describe the advantages and disadvantages of using audio recordings for note taking
